The FUNRIDE™ OCS is an open cabin simulator ride and a scalable motion ride platform for immersive group attractions. Guests sit or stand on a dynamic platform facing a large-format projection screen, dome, or LED media environment, creating a shared ride experience for the entire audience.
Unlike a closed-cabin simulator, the media environment is located outside the ride unit, allowing for unobstructed panoramic sightlines and multiple platforms in front of one shared screen. From compact motion theaters to large-scale immersive attractions, the system supports flexible capacity planning, efficient passenger flow, and reliable integration into the available space.
Multiple OCS platforms can operate in front of one shared media environment to increase guest capacity without duplicating AV infrastructure.
The OCS can be configured with dedicated loading and unloading concepts to streamline passenger handling and support high-throughput attraction operation.
Designed for unobstructed panoramic sightlines, the OCS supports capacities of up to 100 passengers per ride unit while creating a shared experience for the entire audience.
From seated and standing experiences to stationery and track-based applications, FUNRIDE™ OCS adapts to a wide range of attraction concepts.
Available with 3-DOF or premium 6-DOF motion systems as well as hydraulic or electric drive technologies, the platform can be tailored to project-specific requirements.

No two media-based attractions are exactly alike. Some projects are shaped by compact footprints, others by capacity targets, specific media concepts, or operational requirements. Yet the goal remains the same: creating an experience in which motion, media, and storytelling work together as one coherent system.
FUNRIDE™ OCS was developed for this reality as a platform rather than a fixed attraction format. Instead of defining one standard ride size, capacity or motion setup, the concept provides a common engineering foundation for different open-cabin ride configurations — from single ride units to multi-platform setups.
The open-cabin approach gives media more room to shape the experience, while motion adds the physical dimension that turns what guests see into something they feel. Drawing on decades of expertise in certified flight simulation and attraction engineering, Simtec applies refined motion cueing and Motion Texture techniques to create believable movement, smooth transitions, and carefully balanced intensity. Combined with frame-accurate real-time synchronization, this results in an open-cabin motion ride system that connects media scale with simulator-grade motion quality.
Every attraction project comes with its own creative ambitions, operational requirements, and spatial constraints. Rather than forcing these requirements into a predefined layout, Simtec adapts the FUNRIDE™ OCS platform to the specific goals of each project.
Depending on the attraction concept, the system can be configured for different passenger capacities, seated or standing experiences, media environments, and operational concepts. Layouts can be aligned with the target throughput and available footprint. OCS installations may range from compact motion theaters to large-capacity attractions, multi-platform setups or track-based immersive tunnel experiences.
Themed elements, custom cladding, finishes, and IP-specific design integration support world-building. From early project stages, Simtec aligns building conditions, guest flow, media integration, safety interfaces, and maintenance access to create one technically coherent ride system designed for reliable long-term operation. For clients seeking a fully integrated delivery model, FUNRIDE™ OCS can also be supplied as a complete turnkey attraction. Simtec leads the system integration and takes the project through installation, commissioning, and operator and maintenance training. AV technology and film production are provided by selected partners under Simtec’s coordination.
