Lifecycle Support for Long-Term System Operation

Simtec systems are engineered for long-term operation, with structural designs developed for a service life of at least 20 years under defined operating conditions. Our maintenance approach follows the same long-term perspective: service needs to be planned, and critical spare parts need to remain available.

Our service teams can draw directly on the technical documentation, project history and engineering knowledge behind each Simtec installation. If required, the project and development engineers who originally designed and integrated the system can be involved directly.

Over such a long lifecycle, individual components may become obsolete long before the overall installation does — particularly in electrical and control systems. Simtec can evaluate suitable replacements and engineer the modifications required to integrate current technology into the existing system. Even where replacement is not required, changing operational needs or new technologies can make targeted upgrades and retrofits worthwhile.

Regional teams in North America and Asia — including our service hub in Wuhan — provide local technical support while remaining connected to Simtec’s engineering organization in Germany.

Our Maintenance & Lifecycle Service Scope

A single spare part? An ongoing maintenance contract? Obsolete control hardware that needs a technically compatible upgrade? Or support for an upcoming third-party inspection? Simtec can cover the maintenance and field service scope your system actually requires — from individual technical support to long-term lifecycle services, for Simtec installations and selected third-party systems.

Preventive Maintenance & Service Contracts

Service support is configured around the system and customer requirements rather than predefined packages. It can range from individual on-site service to an ongoing maintenance contract combining preventive maintenance, inspections, telephone support, remote diagnostics and additional technical services.

Technical Support & Remote Diagnostics

Technical support is available by telephone, remotely or on site depending on the system and service scope. Remote diagnostics can support fault assessment and troubleshooting before further action is required.
More complex technical questions can be escalated to Simtec engineering. For Simtec installations, this includes direct access to the project and development engineers behind the original system.

Spare Parts & Replacement Components

Simtec supports the supply of spare parts and replacement components for reliable day-to-day operation. Support can range from a single replacement part to coordinated spare parts planning for critical components, helping customers maintain access to the parts needed for scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Obsolescence Management & Technology Upgrades

A system designed for decades of operation can outlive individual technologies. When electrical, control or other components are discontinued, Simtec can evaluate current alternatives and engineer the modifications required to integrate them into the existing installation. This allows the existing system to remain technically viable without replacing an otherwise serviceable installation.

Modifications & Retrofits

Existing systems can be upgraded even when no component replacement is technically required. Simtec can modernize selected parts of an installation to improve functionality, controls, diagnostics, interfaces or overall technical capability while retaining the existing system architecture where appropriate. This allows customers to enhance or adapt an existing installation without replacing the complete system.

Third-Party Systems

Simtec also provides maintenance and lifecycle engineering for systems from other manufacturers. The available scope is defined following a technical assessment of the installation, documentation, architecture and current condition. Depending on the system, this can extend from individual service tasks to engineering-based upgrades and lifecycle support.

Inspection & Acceptance Support

Simtec can prepare systems for inspections and acceptance procedures carried out by independent third parties such as TÜV and provide technical support throughout the process. This can include preparation of relevant technical documentation, coordination of required system checks, support during on-site inspections and engineering follow-up where modifications or corrective measures are required.
